NATURAL REGENERATION OF MIXED BEECH STANDS

Natural regeneration is very common in Romanian forests. One of the most important tree species is Fagus sylvatica. It is know that beech juveniles have greater abilities to survive and grow in shade so shelterwood regeneration methods are common for natural regeneration of this tree species. In order to put in evidence the best regeneration method, 15 mixed beech stands have been analyses in a hilly and mountain area from the West part of Romania. The aim of this research is to highlight the best regeneration methods in order to assure a successful reestablishment by natural means.
