The aim of these studies was to determine the number of plants per hectare that would provide the maximum utilization of the genetic yielding potential of maize hybrids belonging to different FAO maturity groups and would also contribute to a rational use of seeds. The two-factorial trial was performed on irrigated chernozem in the period 2006-2008, according to the split-plot method with four replicates.
