Introduction: The term normal pressure hydrocephalus is used to describe the syndrome characterized by an increase in the size of the ventricles and a normal pressure of cerebrospinal fluid. There are limited epidemiological data, and even though it may be diagnosed at any age, hydrocephalus usually occurs between the sixth and seventh decades of life. Diagnostic criteria include more than one classic symptom of the clinical triad, imaging findings and measurement of cerebrospinal fluid pressure. Although there are multiple management strategies, but surgery is the definitive alternative; the ventriculo-peritoneal shunt is effective when the cerebrospinal fluid is withdrawn from the cavity.
