The oribatid mites from the “loreras” (Prunus lusitanicus L.) are studied, and a checklist of the oribatids of Extremadura (southwest Spain) is given for the firs time. It contains 147 species, one of them new to science, Cosmochthonius lusitanicus n. sp., is described. The species Sellnickochthonius formosus (Cooreman, 1947) and Peloribates perezinigoi Shtanchaeva, Grikurova & Subías, 2011, and the subspecies Cerachipteria digita digita Grandjean, 1935, are recorded for the first time from Spain.
