The ASTRAS program package is described briefly. The ASTRAS is able to simulate high complexity point to point radio communication systems. It is now extended to simulate optical communication systems, too. In this paper we present this new version of ASTRAS. The variable rise time/fall time model of optical sources is shown and the single- mode fibre modelling is analysed in detailed form. The description of optical receiver is given, too
