This paper deals with the determination of the rail impedance by the help of field calcu- lation taking into account the ferromagnetic materials. The Preisach model is applied for modeling the ferromagnetic non linearity in the framework of the finite element method. There is examined the effect of different magnetic parameters for the impedance and the effect of the premagnetisation current
