Maryse Begary

Originally starting off as a gymnast, Maryse was a talented aerialist who was noted for her handstand on a trapeze bar. She made her debut at Cirque Medarno in Paris at the age of 13 and went on to have a long career. She appeared in many European Circuses in the 1940s and 1950s including Bertram Mills, Circus Carre, Blackpool Tower, Circus Schumann, Circo Americano-Castilla and Kelvin Hall. Maryse also appeared in films and doubled for Rita Hayworth, Gina Lollobrigida and also Lana Turner in the Magnificent Showman. in the late 1950s Maryse appeared in Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey and other venues in the USA. Maryse retired in the USA and died in 2007
