Anger and its effects are shown to be an increasingly salient topic of research and treatment. After definitions, theories, and methods of assessment and treatment are reviewed, the present empirical research is introduced. It is an analysis of anger management data collected from inmates in a medium-sized Southwestern correctional facility. Two studies were conducted. The first included participants for whom anger levels were measured twice (pre and post) over a 4-week interval using the State Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI).
