Personality disorder subtypes were formed by examining individuals who received two separate personality disorder diagnoses by clinicians as well as the corresponding two-scale codes of the MCMI-II. Ten personality disorder subtypes were investigated: Avoidant-Dependent, Avoidant/Passive-Aggressive, Dependent-Histrionic, Dependent-Compulsive, Dependent/Passive-Aggressive, Dependent-Borderline, Histrionic-Narcissistic, Histrionic-Compulsive, Histrionic-Borderline, and Narcissistic/Passive-Aggressive.
