The first modern edition of the Six favourite overtures of Johann Christian Bach consists of two elements: (1) Full scores of all six Overtures compiled from contemporary published orchestral material. In the preparation of these scores, all inconsistencies contained in the eighteenth-century parts have been reconciled. Practical realizations of the keyboard continuo line are also provided. (2) A study describing the editorial method employed in the preparation of these scores, which also catalogs all significant errata and inconsistencies. This study also provides background concerning the derivation of the scores, structural analyses and other information of concern to potential performers of these Overtures
