Low temperature Raman spectroscopy has led to a significant revision in the assignment of the vibrational fundamentals of sulfuryl chloride fluoride (SO2FCl). The fundamentals in cm−1 are: (a′) 1230, 826, 632, 503, 422, 295; (a″) 1469, 476, 303. All are from gas-phase i.r. spectra except 295 cm−1, which is from the liquid-phase Raman spectrum. The revised assignments are consistent with the predictions of Pfeiffer\u27s normal coordinate calculations [Z. phys. chem., Leipzig 240, 380 (1969)]
