This paper examines two field sites, Tharn Thong Hmong village and Chiang Mai city, in northern Thailand due to its economic and societal differences. Qualitative interviews with 12 Hmong—6 elders and 6 young adults—from refugee families of the Vietnam War reflect the effect of globalism on the Hmong ethnic. I observed Hmong parents\u27 expectations for their children, elder\u27s perceptions of language and traditions, and Hmong-Thai fleeing to the city. Disparities due to age differences in the village, enabled the young adults to flight for large cities, whereas, elders and young children are left in the village
