This paper attempts to answer a question that demarcates the boundary between physics and metaphysics: why is there something rather than nothing? Appealing to the logic and structure of the cosmological argument for the existence of God, I argue not for the existence of the traditional, theistic God but for the extension of reality beyond the physical realm
