By merging several scholarly texts that define the concept of Tao together, this paper presents three interpretations of the Tao to explore its influence in Chinese military strategies, by cross analyzing the works of Laozi and Sunzi to provide a deeper understanding of why one may engage in war . By examining these texts and their implications, both philosophical and practical, I hope to shed light on the framework of the ancient Chinese way of thinking
