Nature has always been my most important inspiration for my art. I grew up taking a landscape painting class over the summers, and, inspired deeply by Georgia O\u27Keeffe\u27s abstract expressionism and Wolf Kahn\u27s vivid color fields, I learned to translate my surroundings into an emotional, intuitive language of color. This translation—seeing nature through the language of human emotion—is a process that I have attempted to use in the rendering of my comps. Always fascinated by the weird, colorful world beneath the ocean, I studied marine ecology in Australia during my sophomore year.
