In my comps paper, I argue that immigrants should not be expected to have a strong identification with their receiving country (when that country is a liberal democracy). Instead, I put forth a theory I call minimal identification and argue that this abstract, psychological type of identification is all that democracies can demand of immigrants if they still want to be considered liberal states
