In a developing country such as Togo, how youth understand le development is of great importance, for current leaders reiterate that today\u27s youth are tomorrow\u27s leaders. After interviewing with and analyzing the writings of educated Togolese in Togo and the Togolese American diaspora, this study finds that the formally educated will not only lead future Togolese development, they are in good positions to do so today. Findings indicate that the educated Togolese use their cultural and social capital, which includes their knowledge about le développement, to begin home associations through which they introduce sustainable community development projects
