Magnetometry surveys were conducted at archaeological sites in the nomos of Grevena, a county of northwestern Greece. To examine how methods of geophysical surveying provide useful and significant insight in archaeological context, I present here the case studies of two sites in Grevena, referred to as Aghios Giorgios Aghia Varvara and Itea Panaghia/Profitis Ilias. Maps of the magnetic field anomaly produced over the survey areas at each site were used to identify possible subsurface features. Preliminary modeling in GravMag also provided insight at Aghios Giorgios Aghia Varvara. Ultimately, the interpretation of these results suggests future steps that would lead to further completion of our understanding of the geological and human hi...
