Measuring effectiveness in humanitarian aid organizations

Healthcare and humanitarian relief efforts among the poor in developing countries are critical activities in the world today. It is vital that nations that have resources help to improve the healthcare and living circumstances of those without. This research endeavor will take a look at three major players in healthcare and humanitarian aid: the World Health Organization, Doctors Without Borders and Life Outreach International. The goal in conducting this research is to determine the effectiveness or impact of each organization and how this affects its ability to improve healthcare in developing countries. I found that each organization was effective, but at different levels, with Life Outreach International rising to the top. This faith-based organization not only possessed qualities like a statement of mission and vision, but was also able to help more people with donor dollars. The results of my research may be used to help international, nonprofit organizations already involved in healthcare and humanitarian relief efforts in developing countries to increase their effectiveness. As a result, more people can be helped and a greater level of stewardship is achieved
