The paper aims to discuss the impressionistic narrative techniques in The Good Soldier by Ford Madox Ford, which has been famous for its innovative writing techniques. In the text, the limited narrator and non-linear narrative leave fragments on readers’ mind with dense impressionist skills. And the mixture of shining colors’ setting results in the weakening of color result, which lead to the vagueness in reading that corresponds to the vagueness in painting as well. Relying on narrating series of impressions and actions of characters, the structure of the text appears irregular. Such discussion can not only shed new light on its relevant research from the narrative point of view, but also understand Ford’s special contribution to modernism...
