THE ROLE OF VOCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINING LIVING IN A PERIOD OF SECURITY CHALLENGES IN NIGERIA

This paper addresses the role of vocational and technical education in sustaining living in a period of security challenges. Hence, a detailed analysis of the concept of vocational and technical education was examined, including types of vocational and technical education, societal need for training programmes, security challenges in Nigeria, and causes of security challenges. It was concluded with few suggestions made as follows: that there shall be a restructuring of the while academic curricular in our institutions to give room to skill acquisition in different fields to our students, likewise the NYSC should be reconstructed in such a way that the Corps members should be exposed to different vocations in the orientation camps, in addition to their paramilitary training.
