PERFORMANCE OF BIODIESEL AND ITS BLENDS ON SINGLE CYLINER FOUR STROKE DIESEL ENGINE

Environmental concerns and limited amount of petroleum resources have caused interests in the development of alternative fuels for internal combustion(IC) Engines. The use of biodiesel is rapidly expanding around the world. Therefore, in this study the performance test of a diesel engine with neat diesel fuel and biodiesel mixtures were carried out .Biodiesel -Karanja oil is selected for performance test. Different blends of this bio diesel such as B10, B20, B30, B40, B50, B70 and B100 used for testing. For all blends brake thermal efficiency, brake specific fuel consumption are calculated by varying the compression ratio of the engine. Result analysis shows B40 blend gives better performance than other blend
