The thermodynamic properties of the Cu-Fe-S system have been studied by equilibration of the liquid matte with gaseous mixtures of hydrogen and hydrogen sulfide at 1523K. The sulfur potential, ps_2 was measured in the liquid matte region and the location of the tie-lines was determined along the miscibility gaps between matte and metal phases. The data obtained was used to calculate the activities of other components and slight negative deviations of aCu_2S and aFeS from ideality were observed in the Cu_2S-FeS pseudobinary system
