The manganiferous limonite deposits at Kuroishi city, Aomori prefecture occur in the paddy soil of alluvial epoch. The ore minerals were studied by microscopic observation, chemical analysis, X-ray powder method, differential thermal analysis and X-ray probe microanalysis. Those ore minerals were composed of goethite, amorphous limonite and birnessite. The birnessite is considered to be precipitated after limonite. The mode of occurrence and ore texture of those ore deposits show that they are of supergene concentric origin
