Microscopic examination of the slag reveals its principal components to be ilmenite, perovskite and pyroxene group. Magnetic separation of the air cooled slag shows that about 25% can be separated at 200 to 2600 Oerstead. TiO_2 contained in this portion is about 27% and recovery of TiO_2 is about 30%. At 1400 to 2600 Oerstead the portion separated is highest in any grain size, and TiO_2 content is found to be highest at 3000 to 4000 Oerstead. If the slags are melted and cooled gradually from 1350℃ to room temperature at 30℃/hr, there appear the segregation and the grain growth. TiO_2 content in the heat-treated slags, when separated at 200 to 1400 Oerstead, is highest, and about 47 to 50%
