Lead in zinc sulfate solution was very effectively removed with K-isoamyl xanthate (K.A.X.) or tetramethylthiuramdisulfide (T.M.T.). In order to accomplish the desired result, these reagents whose concentrations is 0.5 per cent aqueous solution of K.A.X. or 1 per cent solution of T.M.T. dissolved in 10 per cent ammonia solution, must be added to the neutral zinc solution (pH=4.8), stirring vigorously at low temperature (about 40℃). Concentrations of lead obtained under best conditions are 0.1mg/l in the case of K.A.X. and 0.2~0.3mg/l in the case of T.M.T. when the reagents are added ten times as much the equivalent amount of lead in the zinc solution
