The dispersion-strengthening phenomenon in iron and steel has been studied. The specimens are composed of powdered iron, ferritic or austenitic heat resisting alloys, in which Al_2O_3, MgO or SiO_2 was dispersed. From the change in hardness during heating of the cold-worked specimens with various compositions, and the results of tensile-and rupture-test at high temperatures, the dispersion-strengthening phenomenon in iron and steel has been markedly recognized
