This study aims to present and discuss, analyzing from the perspective of the student and teacher, an experience of teaching in higher education, specifically in the discipline of Early Childhood Education in the Pedagogy course in the College of Education, in the Federal University of Ceará. The experience addressed the work with multiple languages under the eyes of malaguzzian pedagogy. The teaching experience contributed to the development of the instructor as a trainee teacher, especially regarding to the need to know and manage students' prior knowledge, articulating them with scientific knowledge, and listening to students.
