The more information a patient is given, the less likely that person will feel negatively toward the surgery or the surgeon, especially if the changes are unexpected. 4. An information package for the orthognathic patient and his or her family members will aid in better presurgical preparation of the patient. 5. Expectations must be realistic; patients must anticipate the depression and pain which may accompany surgery. 6. Preoperative and post operative psychological needs of patients must be acknowledged and proper counselling should be done
