CONCLUSIONS: GIST in Indian population shows slight male preponderance. Also, GI bleeding as a chief presenting complaint, while not infrequent, is superseded by abdominal pain, which was the most common presenting complaint in our study. In most Indian series, including our study, small intestinal and stomach GISTs have similar incidence; also, extraintestinal GISTs appear to be more common in India. The incidence of metastatic disesase and unresectable disease also seems to be lower in the Indian population. Most gross and microscopic histopathological data Indian studies appear to be correlating well with international studies
