Introduction Ocular trauma is one of the major causes of visual impairment worldwide. Annually there are in excess of 2 million cases of ocular trauma with more than 40,000 cases sustaining significant visual impairment on a permanent basis. The incidence of ocular injuries are on the rise with increased industrialization and modernisation. Blunt ocular trauma is more common among mechanical injuries to the eye.
