Formulation and Characterization of Floating Microspheres of Perindopril Erbumine

Oral ingestion has long been the most convenient and commonly employed route of drug delivery. Indeed, for controlled release systems the oral route of administration has received attention with respect to research on physiological and drug constraints as well as design and testing of product. This is because there is more flexibility in dosage form design for oral route than that of parenteral route. Drug delivery technologies are the formulation technologies that modify drug release profile, absorption, distribution and elimination for the benefit of improving product efficacy and safety. In-vitro data obtained for floating microspheres of perindopril erbumine showed good entrapment efficiency, good buoyancy and prolonged drug release. Microspheres of different size and drug content could be obtained by varying the formulation variables. From the results it can be concluded that the drug release from the floating microspheres matrix was controlled by the polymer proportion. Prepared formulation showed appropriate balance between buoyancy and drug release rate
