Hyponatremia is a common electrolyte disturbance occurring in hospitalised children. The objective of the study isto find out the incidence of hyponatremia in children aged 2months to 5 years hospitalised with community acquired pneumonia and to find out whether it could be used as a predictive tool to assess the severity of pneumonia This study shows that hyponatremia is a common electrolye disturbance occurring in children hospitalised with pneumonia. As most of the cases are euvolemic hyponatremia fluid restriction is necessary.Hyponatremia can be used to predict the severity of disease and morbidity of the disease to a certain extent
