I John Ray Bennett of Spring Coulee passed away Thursday, November 19th 1981 peacefully at his home. Beloved husband of Mrs. Isabel Bennett, he was 81 years of age. Bom December 21, 1899 at Lehi, Utah he moved to Canada with his fam­ily in 1904 and spent his childhood in Magrath. In 1921 he began farming irt Spring Coulee where he resided until his passing. He was active in Church and Comm­unity affairs during his lifetime. He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife Isabel; five sons, Don of Edmonton, Bill of Sandy, Utah, Jerry of Spring Coulee, Dick of Raymond and Brian of St. Albert; one daughter Mrs. Jack (Corinne) Chipman of Spokane Wash.; 30 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers Clyde of Magrath, Lloyd of Grants Pass, Ore., and Reed of Bountiful, Utah; one sister Mrs. Rose Hudson of Magrath; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in the Magrath L.D.S. Chapel Monday afternoon November 23rd with Branch President Verdell Saxton officiating. The fami'ly prayer was offered by Donald Bennett. Prelude music was by Kathleen Harker who also accompanied the choir in the singing of the opening hymn " 0 My Father" conducted by Charlotte Fletcher, ered by Warren Harris, sang as a solo "I'll Walk With God anied by Charlotte Fletcher, gave the biography. Barbara ered a piano solo "Nocturne" for the service was Blaine L. Hudson. Karen Wood played as a flute solo "Beau­tiful Savior". • Closing remarks were by Pres. Saxton and the closing hymn was "Abide With Me" by the choir. A. Wood gave the benediction. The following "Tween­ies" enrolled were: Rachel Closson Amber Ferguson, Tara Harvey, Jodi Hoibak, Kandace Henry, Kristi Hoibak, Kelly-Jo Hunter, Dionne Kinch, Collette Maynard, Deanna 1 Mqprs, Erin Thompson, Heidi Warnock and Valerie Zoroba. Following presentation of pins and certificates, a light lunch was enjoyed by parents and friends of the new Brownies. To help finance the High School activities, the Magrath Junior High students will have a "Sur­vival Candle" blitz starting this Friday, November 27th. The Magrath High School will host it's Thirteenth Annual Boys Basketball Tournament on Friday and Saturday, December 4th and 5th. Eight of the top 4A teams from Southeran Alberta wiil participate, namely: Cardston, Winston Chirchi-11, L.C.I., Kate Andrews, Catholic Central, St. Mary's, Raymond and Magrath. Four games will be played Friday starting at 5:00 p.m. and seven on Saturday. Draws and other details will be out in next week's paper. Michelle, Cindy and Roger would like to announce the marr­iage of their mother, Dorothy Parkins to Otto Piekema, which took place November 20/81 in Leth­bridge. . While "Mom and Dad” enjoyed a short trip to Great Falls, the kids visited Grandma and Grandad, the Grant Dudleys.
