Farewell Testimonial in honor of Elder Michael Shane Reeder was held March 11th, 1983 at 1:30 p.m. Opening prayer was given by his uncle Devon Rasmussen. A Missionary Prayer was sung by Michael. His grand­father B.J. Rasmussen told of some of his Missionary experiences. "In The Hollow of Thy Hand" was .sung by his mother Barbara Reeder and his four aunts Lennie Kado, Dixie Coleman, Valene Steele and Heather Rasmussen. His mother bore her testimony, Michael then told the congregation why he was going on this mission and bore his test­imony. Terry1 Reeder & Heather Rasmussen sang "I’ll Find You My Friend". Bishop Bob West gave some remarks. The Reeder Family - Michael, Terry1, Kim, Micky la & Jessica, with their, mother Barbara sang "God Be With You". Closing prayer was given by Michael'8 uncle Dwight Rasmussen. Michael's Open House will be held at the Reeder Home Sunday night, April 8th from 6:30 , to 9 p.m. Home from Rick's College for the weekend in honor of her brother’s farewell was Miss Terryl Rehder and friend Clyde Miller from Shelly, Id- •ilio • Also in Magrath during the weekend for Mich­ael Reeder;s Farewell were his aunts and uncles Barton Rasmussen of St. Albert, Dwight & Mandy Rasmussen and family from Rocky. Shandy Card was presented with a first place certificate and cheques for her part­icipation in the Canadian Legion Remembrance Day Poetry contest winning the Legion Branch and Zone divisions. The presentations were made to her Saturday evening in Cardston. If you have a teenager in your family who is dieting, they may find the following information useful: First, ask youself ”Do I want to loose weight? There are several reasons for loosing weight, one of the most important being YOU want to. This dofes not guarantee weight loss, nothing does, but it will sure help you get started. ' Once you have decided to go on a diet: 1. Choose a diet you can stick to, that will help you change your eating habits. 2. Enlist the support, understanding and encouragement of your family. 3« If you go . off the diet, don’t worry about it, just go back on it at the next meal, don’t wait un­til tomorrow or the next week. 4. Be prepared for irregular weight loss; sometimes you might reach a plateau, even when you keep on the diet. This is normal. Keep with it and soon you will start losing again. 5. Only weigh yourself once a week at the same time of day, using the same scale and clothing every time. 6. Be ready to lose weight SLOWLY (1*5-2 lb. per week). Your weight wasn’t gained overnight and it won;t be lost overnight. 7. Watch your oortion sizes and extra foods (gravy & dress­ing) . Remove any fat from meats and skin from chicken. 8. Eat baked, broiled or roasted foods instead of friend foods. 9. Eat low-calorie foods for snacks (fresh fruit, vegetables, plain popcorn and low calorie beverages. 10. Don’t skip meals; eat slowly and chew your food well. 11. Make small servings of foods look larger by using emailer plates. 12. Set reaiieti^ oiiurt-term goals and reward youroclf (with a non-food reward such as a movie) when you reach them. 13, Keep busy when.you feel like eating - gor for a walk, or a bike ride, take a bath, participate in some sports. 14. Brook has been in Egypt on an assign­ment with C.E.D.A. on a study of the irrigation in the Nile Delta. He left Magrath in January. He was joined three weeks ago by his wife Kathleen, Greg and Elizabeth Strong and together they toured •Egypt, Israel, Greece, France and England. They visited with Shirley & DeVar Dahl in Leeds, England who sent their regards to friends and relatives in Magrath.
