Funeral services were held in Lethbridge Thursday. Those attending from Magrath were Jay Meldrum, Annie Hillmer, Fern Cook, Arlene Meldrum, Hilda Myatt and Twills Steed. Mrs. Elsie Arndt of Torrington, Alberta visited with relatives and friends in Magrath and di strict. ATTENTION ST. Mrs. Franziska Manzke, a resident ] of Del Bonita for many years, passed i away in Magrath Thursday, November 14th] at the age of 85 years. Born in Kolberg, Germany;? March 5th, 1889, Mrs. Manzke had resided in Del Bonita, and for a short time had made her home in Magrath before once again taking up residence at Del Bonitae Predeceased by her husband Herman,= she is survived by one son Bob wf Del | Bonita, one daughter Mrs. lima Srmmer— | feldt of Cardston, seven grandchildren,! 24 great grandchildren and four great, | great grandchildren. : Funeral services were held,in the | Magrath L.D.S. Chapel Monday afternoon! November 18th. Bishop Bob Campbell wf | the Del Bonita Ward officiated. The family prayer was offered by Brunu Sommerfeldt, • The opening hymn "My Father Knows"] was a vocal trio by Charlotte and Glenn Fletcher accompanied Uy Freda ; Fletcher. Invocation was offered by Floyd Rasmussen. Leo Spencer gave the biography and speaker for the service was Dr. R. M. Dahl. . As a special musical rendition Connie Hancock sang "That Wonde.rful Mother of Mine" accompanied by Erma Dahl. The closing hymn by the trio was "Jesus Lover ef My Soul. George Foggir offered the benediction. Pallbearers were Edgar Henry, Herman, Eugene and Gordon Sommerfeldt Gerqli Sanson and Charlie Williams. Handsome shades of Red Blue, Green |895 The Magrath Big Qym was packed to overflowing Wednesday evening when some 1500 attended the largest Progressive Convervative Nomination meeting yet to be held in the province of Alberta for the next election. Johnny Thompson of Spring Coulee won the right to be named Progressive Conservative Candidate for the Cardston Constituency for the next provincial election. Contesting the right tw represent the party in this constituency were three other men of the area — Dr. Glen Purnell, Deputy Minister of Agriculture who was on leave of absence to contest the nomin­ation; Mayor Bob Graham of Raymond and rancher Lawrence Kearl of the Cardston ai'ea . Balloting lasted until past mid­night as first Mr. Graham was eliminated, then rancher Lawrence Kearl and ' leading after the second ballot, Mr. Thompson received 624 votes, Dr. Purnell 571 in the third and final vote. Johnny Thompson has been an untir­ing worker for the local constituency and was president.of the local executive. • • 4 I* • 6th ANNUAL MAGRATH HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT Friday and Saturday, November 22nd & 23rd, Magrath Big Qym. 4 games Friday night, 7 games Saturday.
