X > A beautiful wedding ceremony was sol- ermized in the St. George Temple, Saturday, December 17, 1988, uniting in marriage Carol Irene Law, daughter of Don and Garda Law of Magrath, and Dallen Jay Timothy, son of Arden and Chyrrel Timothy of Hurri­cane, Utah. A wedding breakfast hosted by the par­ents of the groom, was served to family and friends in the Hurricane Stake Center. That evening a Calling Reception was held in their honour. Following a honeymoon to Los Vegas and Mexico, the happy couple will make their home in Provo, Utah, where Dallen is con­tinuing his studies at the Brigham Young University majoring in International Re­lations and Carol has returned to her position at Heritage, a residential treat­ment center for adolescence. On December 18, 1988, a pre-wedding reception was held for Carol and Dallen in the Magrath Stake Center, decorated in the Christmas theme,. Parents of the bride greeted the guests. Carol's sister-in-law Michele, and brother Ken, presided at the guest register. Niece and nephew of Carol, Kari-Jo and Kevin Söderström received the gifts which were displayed by Karen Mitchell and Cathy Wit beck. Wedding music was played by Ahna Davies. Sherry Godionton decorated the wedding cake. Lois Lawlor and Marilyn Grusendorf were in charge of the lunch with many of Carol's friends assisting. A sincere thank you is extended to those who helped to make Carol and Dallen's reception and wedding a happy and special occasion for them. We have just received a new shipment of L.D.S. Goals and assists were scored by Lome McKelvey 3, Landen Harker 1, Ryan Rupley 2/1; .Justin Harker 2/2, Dustin Godionton 2, Michael Balderson 3, Kurt Robinson 1/2, Trevor Panzak 1/2 and Matthew Stanford 1/2. Tnis game was the second shut-out of the season for our goalie Greg Bourne, He is currently averaging less than 2 goals scored against him per league game. ■ This team is performing splendidly this season with a total of 4 wins, 2 ties and only 1 loss in League gares. Team members are: Vince Holland, Kim Dalton, Kevin Strate, Jamie Godionton, Chad Mi 1 Ter-, Danny Balderson, John Ripley, Kenny Wright and Stephen Veale, goalie. This team has played seven league games this year against Cardstbn, Standoff twice Vauxhall, Raymond twice and Great Falls and have won all seven. They have scored a total of 66 goals and have allowed a total of 16 goals against them. ■ Last Saturday, January 7, they gravell­ed to Standoff winning 8-1. Goals scored by Chad Miller (3 & 1) Jamie Godionton (2) Vince Holland (1 & 1) John Ripley (1 & 2) Kevin Strate (1); Darny Salderson, Kim Dalton and Kenny Wright each with 1 assist. Stephen Veale did an excellent job in goal. Next game Saturday, January 14th in Raymond. Atem B: Tournament at Lethbridge during Christmas holidays with Magrath taking the chanpionship. First game against Leth­bridge Optomist Leafs ended 6-0 for Magrath with Ken Rasmussen earning the shutout. Austin Cole Ojala made his appearance at Magrath General Hospital in the early hours of Saturday morning, January 7, 1989, weigh­ing in at 8 lb. 13 oz. ” Delighted parents are Todd and Ana Ojala. Equally pleased grandparents are Janet Ojala of Magrath, David and Mercedes Guti­errez of Rochelle, Texas. An adult group of singles and couples is planning a three week tour of Europe in July, the major cities visited will be London, Paris, Rcme, Venice, Florence and Pisa.- If numbers are sufficient a private bus will be possible and some input can be made in the planning of a particular route. The community of Magrath was saddened late Monday afternoon on learning of the ' sudden passing of J. Calvin (Cal) Alston, beloved husband of Mrs. Doreen Alston. 1 Cal passed away Monday, January 9, 1989 at the age of 64 years. Funeral services will be held in the Magrath LDS Stake Chapel Thursday, January 12th at 2 p.jn. with Bishop Wes Balderson officiating. Christinas hnl idAy with relatives in the Moose' Jaw area of Saskatchewan. In High School Basketball action during the weekend Magrath Zeniths defeat­ed Winston Churchill Bulldogs 88-56. Ron Cook led the Zeniths with 20 points, Clint Heath followed with 18. Other point getters for Zeniths were Dan Anderson 14, Andy Gruninger 11, Cam Blume1 7, Shane Salmon 6, Ron Strate and Darin Wilde each added 4, and Randal Heggie with 2 and Justin Gruninger with 2 points. In Junior Varsity action Magrath downed Winston Churchhill 66-49. Trevor Millward netted 15 points and Doug Gurney was next with 13 points. A record amount df snow for January Sth - 6th fell followed by very cold temp­eratures. Seme of the tiny tots had not seen that amount of snow and were anxious to have Dad get out the sleighs, toboggans and "what - ever" so they could try out that white stuff - not a bit concerned about freezing their noses and cheeks. Van children got Friday off because of the bad road conditions and enjoyed the day away from classrooms. Magrath was among several Southern Alberta points that experienced rising temperatures.
