This is a one hour program and will feature a var­iety of music from marches to concert sel­ections with solo performances by the per­cussion section, and senior musician Becky Bennett. Becky is well known for her ex­ceptional performance skills on the flute. She has twice been selected from amongst all Alberta high school musicians to per­form with the Provincial High School Honor Band. She will perform the solo which won her a "superior" rating at both the Card­ston and Lethbridge Music Festivals. The finale of the Band Concert will be the performance of two selections which combine the High School and Junior High Bands. The evening promises to be very entertaining and appropriate for the whole family. Admission at the door is $1.00 per seat, or $5.00 per family. Mr. Elmer William Alexander, beloved husband of Mrs. Hazel Alex­ander of Magrath, passed away near Lethbridge on Thursday, June 1, 1985 at the age of 72 years. # Born February 22, 1918 in Bernie, Manitoba where he was raised and ed­ucated, Elmer joined the Armed Forces in 1939 and served overseas in Eng­land and Italy during World War 11. He returned to Manitoba alter the war and worked as a crane operator. In 1972 he married the former Hazel Dann. They retired to.Magrath in 1980 where he resided until the time of his passing. . He was a member of Canadian Legion General Branch #4, Lethbridge. Besides his wife Hazel is survived by his mother . Maudie Fraser of Neepawa, son Ken (Wendy) Alexander Man., two stepsons Douglas of Tofield and Ken (Georgina) Dann McCreary, Man., one daughter Mrs- Lois (Ed) Sliworsky of Winnipeg, Man.; one step-daughter Mrs. Gladys (Norman) Larson of Magrath; numerous grand­children; two brothers. Last year featured the first time a comm­unity team has ever reached the A division finals but the always tough Elmer Ririe team prevailed. Last vear also featured pver 300 out-of­town players, family members and supp­orters who returned to their roots for family reunions and to play softball. Mrs. Sara Ambrosi, beloved wife of the late Mr. John Ambrosi, passed away on Friday, June 2, 1989 at the age of 92 years. Born, raised and educated in Romania, the former Sara Kirschner married John Ambrosi in Romania on December 26, 1919. Together they immigrated to Canada and to Magrath in 1951. Mrs. Ambrosi resided in Magrath until her passing. She is survived by two daughters Miss Sara Ambrosi of Germany and Mrs. Katie (Hans) Kulcsar of Magrath; two sons Mike (Ruth) and Andrew (Mary) Ambrosi both of Magrath; 19 grand­children; 16 great grandchildren; ■ one niece; and one nephew. Besides her loving husband, John who passed away in 1979, she was pre­deceased by her parents Michael and Anna Kirschner; two sons; one daughter; one sister and one brother. The Tom Karren Gymnasium Fund Raiser is nearing completion and the committee is pleased to report that their objective is close to being met. They are starting to look at possib­ilities for upgrading and extras, should enough contributions beyond the objective come in. This would certainly increase the value and fun­ction of the building in our commun- . ity, so if you are planning to donate' and haven't done so, please do so as soon as possible. The Gymnasium Committee would like to acknowledge Recreation Parks and Wildlife for their donation of $15,000. Progress is also being made on applications for government grant money and our MLA, Jack Ady, is helping with this. Unfortunately bureaucratic snags have prevented the gymnasium committee from getting a tax number for '88 tax purposes. They are still pursuing all avenues in hopes of getting this for next year. Last Thursday afternoon a group of Seniors from Fort Saskatchewan (near Edmonton) who call themselves the Pioneer Singers, presented a very enjoyable program of entertainment at our Seniors' Centre. Besides the many songs rendered by the choir they also had skits and specialty numbers. The large apprec­iative audience who attended were well repaid for their efforts. SPECIAL THANKS TO GRAD HELPERS Graduation 1989 was a great success thanks to hard working students, staff, parents and support from the community. Grad students were divided into five committees to work on the various asp­ects of a graduation. Special thanks to Ms. Beswick and the exercises comm­ittee, Mrs. Beres and the Banquet comm­ittee, Mrs. Watson and the decorating committee, Mr. Johnson and the misc­ellaneous committee and Mr. West and the fund raising committee. A big thank you to Mrs. Joanne Wocknits who painted a beautiful set of murals that really added to the atmosphere ■ of the gym decorations and to Mrs. Ruby Fletcher who put so much effort into directing the balloon explosion into the future as a finale to the "Pathway to the Future".
