Santa Claus visited the party and passed out noise-makers to add to the evening’s enjoyment. A corsage was presented to all the ladies present as a gift from the club. Lion Rondo was in charge of the wening’s en­tertainment and presented M. L. Johnson of Spring Coulee, who played a couple of numbers on the trumpet. A brief report was given on the results of the Carnival, by Carnival chairman Lion Bob Matson; after which Lion President Jay Hamilton presented him with a wallet. A parcel wrapping contest was won by Lion C. S. Matkin and Lioness Maurine Tanner. The crowd went upstairs where dancing was enjoyed to the music of Ted’s Melody Men. . In the final game for the "Tanner Trophy" the Magrath Zeniths edged out the Cardston Cougars at a score of 39 to 32, at the Cardston Gym Saturday night. The L. C. I. lost to Raymond squad, 98 to 50. Chas. Cheeseman presented the "Tanner" Trophy to Tyler Alston captain of the Mag­rath Zeniths immediately following the last game. They presented vocal solos by Mr. Rell Francis, Miss Francis and a vocal duet by Mr. Rell Francis and sister Miss Francis (who graduates this year in music from the B. Y. U). A ladies sixtet also rendered a number before the presentation of the Cantata which was accompanied by the organ, piano and chimes played by Taber musicians. Mr. & Mrs. Rell Francis, Miss Francis and Mr. Bullock of Taber were the soloists in the Cantata. The choir ensemble under the dir­ection of John Johansen was very well train­ed and showed great ability with choral work. It was very pleasing and much enjoyed by the over-filled chapel. John Johansen has conducted the Taber choir and band for 30 years. On his recent retirement from the band he was presented with an electric clock set in a large ship with his name and violin solo "Finlandia" by Sibeleus, he still showed his great ability at the violin which reminded the old-timers wf when he used to play in Magrath. Wenaas left Tuesday for Edm­onton on business......, THE NIGHT AFTER CHRISimAS ’Twas the night after Christmas and boy, what a house’. I felt like the de^il, and so did the spouse. The egg-nog and turkey and candy were swell, But ten hours later they sure gav.e me hell. The stockings weren’t hung by the chimney with care — The darn things were sprawled on the back of a chair. The children were nestled all snug in their bed, But I had a large cake of ice on my head. And when, at last, I dozed off in a nap The ice woke me up when it fell in my lap. Then for some unknown reason I wanted a drink, So I started in feeling my way to th4 sink. I got along fine till I stepped on the cat, I don’t recall just what occurred after that. But when I came to, the whole house was alight — I was under the table and high as a kite. While visions of sugar plums danced in my head, I somehow got up and then back to bed, Then what to my wandering mind should appear, But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer, Then the sleigh seemed to change to ared fire truck, And each reindeer turned into a bleary-eyed buck, I knew in a minute it must be Old Nick — I tried to cry out, but my tongue was too thick. Then the old devil whistled and shouted with glee While each buck pawed the earth and looked daggers at me. Then he called them by name and the names made me shudder When I heard them I felt like a ship minus a rudder. "Now Egg-Nogl Barcardil Four Roses’, and Brandy- Now Fruit Gakel Cold Turkey I Gin Rickey’, and Candy I To the top of the house to the top of his skull, Now whack away, crack away, with thumps that are dulli" Then in a twinkling I felt on my roof The prancing and pawing of each cloven hoof. How long this went on I'm sure I can't say Tho it seemed an eternity, plus a long day. But finally the night after Christmas had passed And I found that I could really think straight at last,-. So I thought of the New Year a few days away, And I’ve made me a vow that no tempter can sway. I'm sticking to water, don't even want ice, For there’s nothing as tasty or nothing aa nice. The night after New Year may bother some guys But I've learned my lesson, and brother I'm wise. You can have your rich victuals, and liquor that's red, But what goes to my stomach won'.t go to my head. While here they will visit with many old friends including Mike Kosma and Matt Schneider. They lived in the home yhere Maylon Bourne now lives. They left here in 1929, owing for a ten cent bottle of ink, purchased by his daughter, Mary. He received a good V many statements. Now he wants to settle for 150. Their daughte: s married and her husband owns the largest hardware stor< in Warburk. Mary Texter is now selling ink. Another daughter, iheresa is working in Edmonton. Mr. Stanger grows wheat, al-sike clover and altaswede clover. This year they raised 400 pounds to an acre at 300 per pound, $120.00 per acre. He had 55 acres. Next year he willjMant 100 acres. Most of the farm­ers there are either in the oil or clover business. The clovers are good for three years with one seeding. The Leduc oil-field' is 30 miles East of Warburk.--- tfen’s Ready-to-Wear.
