Abstract

Black-and-white photograph of Nicholas de Grandmaison painting at a mountain lake. He is wearing a suit and his glasses and is seated on a camp stool. His painting box is set up near the water's edge and he is working on a small painting. Another painting box sits on the ground beside him. A rocky slope with evergreen trees can be seen across the water. The photograph is printed on cardstock with square holes punched along the left hand side. A handwritten notation in pencil on the front of the photograph is difficult to decipher and may possibly read: "Lake Moraine Summ 1949 - Jimmy Robb took it." Stamped on the back of the photograph in black ink is the number "L9 6" with the "6" crossed out in pencil and "78" written in pencil a...
