Albert Humphrey was born on May 15, 1891 in Bristol, England to parents Albert and Harriett Humphrey. He spent his childhood years in England with brothers, Cecil and Sidney. As a young man, Albert immigrated to Canada, and settled in Lethbridge, Alberta. At time of enlistment, he was working as a clerk at the city assessors office. On June 16, 1915, Albert Humphrey enlisted with the 13th Canadian Mounted Rifles. Pte Humphrey arrived in England on July 6, 1916, and was shortly after transferred to the PPCLI/RCR Training Depot.
