Henry Moorhead was born on November 11, 1892 in Longford, Ireland to parents William and Emily Moorhead. He grew up in Ireland with his brothers William, Alexander and George. As young men, the Moorhead boys immigrated to Canada and all settled in southern Alberta. Henry signed up and served with the RNWMP. When war broke out, Henry joined his three brothers in the recruiting lines. Alexander served with the 50th Battalion CEF Calgary, George served with the 13th Canadian Mounted Rifles Pincher Creek, while William joined Henry in the 39th Battery CFA Lethbridge.
