Bobby Scott was born on October 20, 1897 in Lethbridge, N.W.T. to parents Thomas and Elizabeth Scott. He had three sisters, Jane, Roberta, and Marguerite. Bobby grew up in the Lethbridge area, and as a young man, was employed as a labourer. On June 3, 1916, Bobby Scott enlisted with the 13th Canadian Mounted Rifles. Pte Scott arrived in England on July 6, 1916, aboard the SS Olympic, and remained in England until embarking for France on August 27, 1916. Upon arrival in France, he was taken on strength by the Royal Canadian Regiment. Pte Scott would serve with the RCR for just under two months, seeing action at the Somme.
