The JT-60 tokamak is being upgraded to an advanced superconducting tokamak to be called the JT-60 Super Advanced (JT-60SA) at the National Institute for Quantum and Radiological Science and Technology in Japan. In the JT-60SA, the magnet system consists of a central solenoid (CS), 18 toroidal field coils, and six plasma equilibrium field coils. As the CS is composed of four modules, CS1, CS2, CS3, and CS4. Fig.1 shows the photograph of the CS1 module.
