Consumption of contaminated drinking water and foods with metals is of great concern from the viewpoint of public health. It is already known that a large-scale poisoning by arsenic (As) has become one of the major issues in developing countries mainly due to its high concentration in bedrocks. To evaluate metal concentration effects on human health, it is necessary to measure elemental concentrations in biological samples, such as urine. In this study, we used an octapole reaction system ICP-MS (ORS-ICP-MS) to measure Mn, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Mo and Pb in urine samples. We also measured river water samples for comparison.
