A high-performance brain PET scanner, jPET-D4, is under development. This scanner is designed to achieve not only high spatial resolution but also high scanner sensitivity with depth-of-interaction (DOI) measurement using four-layered thin crystals. A pair of detector blocks and a coincidence circuit have been assembled into an experimental prototype. As a preliminary experiment, we have investigated the performance of jPET-D4 in inherent spatial resolution.
