Native Americans are responding to the Administration's policy of self-determination by accepting more and more of the burden of local government, education, and community services on reservations all across the country. The concept of self-determination has motivated Tribes and individuals to step forward and take the initiative in forest management as well. We hope this report reflects the pride and dedication Indian communities have developed, through the application of P.L. 93-638 and other cooperative programs, for the management of their forest resources
