Pupil's reading

The diploma thesis called Pupils'reading activities in the theoretical part defines the terms reading, reading activities and reading literacy. It describes factors influencing the readers and their direct and indirect influence on pupils and their reading. The last chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to several researches on children's reading in the Czech Republic. The empirical part is devoted to the quantitative- quualitative survey carried out in the form of anonymous questionnaires for the pupils of the 5th and 6th grades of primary schools and the pupils of the 1st grade of eight-year grammar school. The questionnaire focuses on assigning and controlling pupils'reading, supporting reading by the family, pupils' individual attitudes to reading and their genre preferences. The results are given as a percentage to be comparable with the results of other researches carried out in the Czech Republic. The second part of the empirical work consists of a summary of qualitative semi-structured interviews with class teachers from primary schools and with Czech language teachers from secondary schools.
