The media image of T. G. Masaryk in selected Czech periodicals during the hilsner affair

The bachelor thesis deals with the media image of T. G. Masaryk at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in selected Czech media against the background of the Hilsner affair. The text details selected media outcomes in the monitored media: Šípy, Katolické listy, Právo lidu, Čas, Národní listy. Subsequently, it characterizes their main different features, which were described after comparing selected newspaper articles. The thesis also introduces the period of the 19th century and the Czech media scene, where you can find basic information about the monitored periodicals. Paper acquaints readers in detail with the process of L. Hilsner since the murder of A. Hrůzová, through the course of the investigation to his conviction. The person of T. G. Masaryk is also thoroughly analyzed. The aim of the thesis was to confirm or disprove the hypothesis that selected Czech media published articles about Masaryk in different wording. At the end of the work we come to confirm the given hypothesis, as already suggested by the theoretical starting point of the work. The Šípy, Katolické listy and Národní listy periodicals often made a negative image of Masaryk, not only in connection with the Hilsner affair.
