British-Spanish Relations, 1739-1748

This diploma thesis will deal with British-Spanish relations from 1739 to 1748. Main point of the thesis will be war of Jenkin's Ear. It was a colonial conflict that look place between Great Britain and Spain overseas in the Caribbean, the North Coast of South America or Florida. The work will also deal with the tense time before the outbreak of war, its causes, course and consequences of this conflict. The war was provoked by a familiar affair involving Captain Robert Jenkins. This war is often neglected because it became part of a larger conflict and practically merged with the War of Austrian Succession, which took place in Europe from 1740 to 1748. Last but not least, the subject of the thesis will also be the development of British- Spanish relations in the European field that had an impact on the conflict overseas. It was peace in Aachen that ended the war on the Austrian heritage, as well as the war on Jenkins' ear
